What is TERT

A TERT, or Telecommunicator Emergency Response Task force, is an organized network of trained dispatchers whom could be deployed to assist a dispatch center or staff a command post in the event any of our state, county, or local public safety communications centers were to become compromised due to a natural disaster or terrorist event. Having a TERT team active in Arkansas is a valuable resource to protect the lives of the public we serve.

Why Do We Need TERT?

When disasters occur, dispatchers are usually the first point of contact and must maintain communication links. However, a disaster or critical incident can strain or even overwhelm a dispatch center threatening vital communication. A TERT would be available to augment dispatch centers where needed or provide primary communications.

It is the mission of the Arkansas Chapter of (TERT) Telecommunicator Emergency Response Task force to operate under the guidance of the (NJTI) National Joint TERT Initiative . A national collaborative effort between APCO and NENA to have trained teams in all 50 states who are ready to deploy during local, state, and national disasters. The Arkansas TERT team is a FEMA deployable resource that will stand ready to assist any PSAP that needs help during any disaster whether natural or manmade.
