If you are interested in a rewarding career in Public Safety Dispatching, we have a job for you. Central Communications is accepting applications for testing and recruitment. We pay between $12.55 and $14.12 per hour DOE.
There are many new exciting things you will do in this career field. Some of what our public safety dispatcher do includes, but is not limited to:
- Use a computer-aided dispatch system.
- Receive emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical or other emergency services.
- Determine the nature and location of the emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire ambulance or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.
- Receive and process 911 emergency calls, maintain contact with all units on assignment, maintain status and location of police and fire units.
- Monitor direct emergency alarms, answer non-emergency calls for assistance.
- Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems.
- Receive requests for information regarding vehicle registration, driving records and warrants, and provides pertinent data.
- Monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies.
- Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems.
- Possibly work on our Field Communications Team.
APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS ON ANY OF OUR THREE SHIFTS. IF FOR ANY REASON YOU CAN NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS, YOU NEED NOT APPLY.
No experience necessary, we will train. Applicants must pass a dispatch and typing test, criminal background test, polygraph, and oral board interview. Experience is preferred and bilingual is a plus.
